David Schapals – Care Financial

Vice President

David Schapals is a proud native of Mobile, Alabama. Born and raised in the area, he has always been deeply connected to the Gulf Coast community. After graduating from the University of South Alabama, David made the decision to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the family business, Care Financial, as Vice President.

David and his wife, Julie, have called the Eastern Shore home since 2005, where they have raised two sons, Cameron and Clark. As a family, they enjoy a wide variety of activities together, including sports like football, basketball and baseball. Beyond sports, they share a love for fishing and boating, spending much of their free time on the water. The family has always had a deep connection to the coast and its waterways, and they cherish their time spent in Orange Beach during the summer, where they can go deep-sea fishing and explore everything the Gulf Coast has to offer. It’s this love for the water that drives David’s bucket list dream—boating and island hopping around the Caribbean with his family, experiencing new places and making lasting memories.

David’s decision to step into the family business wasn’t made lightly, but over time, he came to see how important it was to provide others with the security and peace of mind that financial planning can offer. He believes that Care Financial’s work is vital, especially as many people are unaware of the retirement options available to them. For David, the mission is clear: ensure that clients can retire without the fear of outliving their savings or being vulnerable to market loss.

One of David’s core values is helping clients leave a lasting legacy. Whether it’s for their loved ones or charitable causes, he believes that financial planning can empower people to create a legacy that outlives them. He also finds great satisfaction in guiding them through the process, showing them how to structure their plans to support their family or favorite charities in the future.

David’s role in the family business is not just about continuing a legacy—it’s also about ensuring that the next generation is prepared to take the reins. As his own children, Cameron and Clark, grow older, they’ve shown an interest in learning the business. David is eager to pass down the knowledge and skills he has gained over the years to his sons, so they can continue the work his father began. It’s David’s hope that, just as his father mentored him, he will have the opportunity to mentor his sons and help them succeed in the industry. This continuity is a big part of why David is so passionate about Care Financial’s future and the future of the families they serve.

Early on, he recognized the importance of being there for his family, particularly during the formative years of his children’s lives. His career in financial planning has afforded him the flexibility to attend his sons’ sports games, school functions and other important events. David’s clients have often told him how valuable it is to spend time with family, and this advice has shaped his personal and professional life. His ability to manage both family and business is a testament to his dedication to both his work and his loved ones.

Looking ahead, David is excited about the future of Care Financial. As the business continues to grow, he is optimistic about the new opportunities for the company and the Gulf Coast community. With the potential for his children to join the business, David is confident that Care Financial will remain a trusted partner in financial planning for years to come, helping even more families secure their futures. For David, the work is far from over, and he’s committed to ensuring that Care Financial continues to thrive, supporting generations of Gulf Coast families with the financial guidance and security they need.
